Everything but the dress: accessorizing done right.

How to choose your veil, shoes and jewellery on point.

First off kudos on finding your beautiful wedding gown vintage dress or bridal ensemble!

One of the toughest part is finished and now we will focus on bringing it to life by accessorizing smartly. The golden rule is staying true to your essence, so we need to find the jewellery you regularly use, and then turn it up a notch. If for example you use no jewellery at all, then your earrings should be a pair of small pearl or simple elegant crystal studs, if on the other hand you love dangle earrings and wear them regularly, you can definitely opt for statement floral earrings, oversized duster shoulder or baroque pearls for your wedding day. Think about your everyday favorite choices and then move the cursor just enough to be slightly out of your comfort zone, if you have trouble with this, think back on formal outfits when you felt and looked sensational and you got a lot of compliments …and then pick pieces in a similar style.

Five foolproof tips for choosing your jewellery…

Getting the right

wedding veil.

Completely overwhelmed with the enormous assortment and veils names? we hear you girl!

Forget about fancy names like cathedral, chapel and fingertip…nevermind the “appropriate lengths” and all the extra info that is just confusing you. Veil are the quintessential bridal accessory and most symbolic of bridal items and even though veils have a rep of being classic and outdated, the truth is they can power up and add a modern vibe to your wedding look, the secret lies in choosing the perfect one.

Step by step to veiling perfection

  • Lets first focus on your hairstyle for the ceremony when you’ll wear your veil. This will set the tone for the best veiling option, if for example if you considered wearing your hair on a high ponytail a “mantilla” will not be the best option, rather we would advise for a tied veil. If on the other hand you are wearing your hair down then you can look amazing with a single tier, a drape or even a blusher.

  • Try the full ensemble attire + shoes + jewellery with at least 3 different veils types. Don’t be afraid of contrasting styles, it is very amazing to pair a long double tiered veil with a two piece suit to make a real fashion statement.

  • Something very important to remember is that you will probably only use your wedding veil for a short amount of time in comparison to the rest of the outfit, so it is kind of a first look in itself. Having said that, don’t be afraid to look a little bit extra.. and chose one that you really adore even if it’s something you never imagined you’d wear if it makes you feel special.

  • We forget that veil is one of the most expensive accessories and that such expense is not easily justified on an item you’ll wear only once, so consider borrowing one or even renting one and avoiding spending extra money on it.

Finding the perfect wedding shoes

Again here the first thing to focus on is the gown or bridal attire, shoes should work around your garments and not the other way around...(unless shoes are more important to you, in which case you already made your choice ;)) That said and assuming you get your bridal ensemble first, you’ll need to look STYLE, COLOR, DETAILING, COMFORT, HEIGHT, five things that make all the difference and is best to narrow down.

style- color- detailing …

We’ve divided them into two blocks because style, color and detailing work together in creating the whole aesthetic. Focusing in only one of these variables will make your choice so much easier. For example if you are wearing a long silk flowing gown, and you have chosen a protagonistic accessory like our big Fortunata earrings, then you could focus on something with a bit of metallic and transparent materials to boost your protagonistic accessory, translation: rose gold or aged gold strappy shoes, clear lucite toe peeps. If on the other hand you wear a short modern dress then shoes play a super important role and you can opt for a striking choice like the Pucci white feather high heel sandals and go loud in material, color and detailing simultaneously.

…comfort - height

/

Shoes are super important specially because you will have to wear them for 10+ hours and you don’t want pain to prevent you from genuinely smiling in your wedding photos! Comfort and height pretty much go hand in hand and it’s also important to consider how much practice you have with wearing heels … There is nothing more awkward than a bride who cannot walk properly down the aisle, pain is visible and you will not be able to hide it from your face and your posture…so think comfort first. There are many bridal shoe trends and unconventional wedding options like block heels, kitten heels, ballerinas, ankle boots and even amazing sneakers for after hours.

Top tips for amazing bridal shoes.

  • Do an online search using the terms that are important for you. For example metallic formal pumps with block heels.

  • Before buying make sure you can walk with them and check how they look with your outfit. Even online you can find stores that ship them and have a great return policy.

  • Take into account the type of ground you’ll spend most of the time in, what is the venue floor like, the pavement and logistics of the ceremony. Remember you can have second or third-look shoes, this way you’ll feel completely covered !

  • Prioritize comfort so you can look and feel amazing throughout the whole day. Again, you can have ballerina flats or tennis shoes as a back up for later on. This way you will not sacrifice looks for comfort in the after hours.

  • Search for your shoes with enough time, panic shopping is the worst.
